The Network expects each Research Development Group to include the adequate representation of children’s and service users’ views at either the development stage (e.g. funded RDG) or during the clinical study (at clinical trial/study stage).
Children in Wales leads the well-established Participation of children & young people in research group, to ensure bridging between service users, social care academics, voluntary sector stake-holders and the health research community. The participation in research group is established as a Research Development Group within the Children’s Research Network to develop participatory programmes of activity in order to provide improvements in the way health and social care issues are understood and addressed. Several members of the research group are leading experts in participative research methodologies and it is anticipated that this group will become recognised for its ability to develop and conduct research which advances learning across several disciplines and includes in a genuine and robust way, the voice of the child/young person. Moreover, access to organisations within this Network for children and parents, for participation in trials as well as dissemination of research to the wider children’s professional network will also be possible through this relationship.
